Fortune. Some people have it, some people seek it, some claim to predict it, and some say that it favors the brave. Write a ficlette inspired by the word 'fortune.'


Fortune.

Something which I cannot seek and something which I seem to have a great deal of during my assignments. How else to explain falling from the roof of Notre Dame or facing any number of creatures far larger than myself? Without some bit of 'fortune', I would surely not have survived half of the encounters.

Now, about seeking such - I cannot. The money I might make, that I might acquire, is given to the Church. I am not a monk, but the Order provides what I need and I have no use for money.

What would I do with it? I am not in need of material goods aside from my weapons and my clothes. There isn't anything I could buy that would serve me better than that which Carl and the Order already provides.

I will say that I am quite fortunate to have Carl to research my adversaries and construct my weaponry. And even the Church can't take that fortune away.
