[livejournal.com profile] otherways - Door Plot

1. The Door to Nowhere - it's down the hall from Harry's rooms and it leads to nowhere for the Unbound and to somewhere for the Bound - the 'somewhere' is, as yet, undecided.

2. The Door to the NeverNever - one door down from The Door to Nowhere - this door leads to the Nevernever - a spirit dimension from the Dresden-verse. Going through this door requires some coordination with one or more of the Dresden-muns (That'd be

3. The Door that Only Opens from the Outside - it's a door to a locked closet, really - it can only be opened from the outside, so people can sort of 'get lost' for a little while and they'd have to wait for either a very curious person (Stephen) to wander along and randomly open the door, or figure out a way to communicate with Nick so they can get out, or be MacGyver and figure out a way to open the door from the outside while still being on the inside.

4. The Door That Goes Home - it's a one-way door that leads to a pup's home with the condition that one must travel alone and cannot return to Milliways once they've gone through. (This is kind of the deus ex machina door for pup's who need a reason to leave but can't exactly think of something IC. Also - the pups won't *know* that it's a one-way trip until they go through - with the exception of Stephen.)

5. The Door to Your Worst Fear - exactly what it says - once opened, it will show you your worst fear. No decision yet on if it makes you actually combat your fear, but it will surely SHOW you your worst fear.

6. The Door to Your Heart's Desire - like the 'Worst Fear' door, but it's your 'Heart's Desire' - the one thing in all the world that you truly want. Careful opening this one with others around - your twu wuv might find out that all you really want is a big slice of turtle cheesecake *g*.

7. The Door to Your True Reflection - this one I swiped from a fanfic I wrote - this door would lead to a dimension that reveals your 'true reflection'. When you enter this dimension, to everyone you meet you look like the person you really are - not like the facade that you try to make everyone see. For example: canon!Harry - in this dimension, if he looks in a mirror, he sees himself dressed in purple wizard's robes and a pointed purple wizard's hat, both decorated with silver moons and stars, because that's what Harry *is*. He's a wizard. He doesn't hide it and he doesn't lie about it. He openly admits that that is who he is and, as such, his 'true reflection' shows that. About this dimension: There are NO shadows here, not even inside buildings - it's 'sunny' all the time and, yes, this is a problem for vampires with 'sun light allergies'. There are talking animals and there is a cottage at one end that has a bright-reflective window/mirror on the front door. Beyond that - make it up as you go.

8. The Door to [livejournal.com profile] other_back_room - yes, this is the crack!door to the backroom. Talk to Tracy about this one. ;)

9. The Door to the Basement of the Louvre - this was initially random crack, but the more I think about it, the more I actually like the idea of a door that goes someplace most people possibly *could* go, they just *don't*.

10. The Door to the End of the Universe - why not? You open the door and it leads you right to the exploding end of the universe.

11. The Door to Not!Home - this one would lead to your home; however, it would lead to an alternate version of home. In the case of [livejournal.com profile] otherways it could lead back to canon!Home or to some other alternate version of Home.

12. The Door to Milliways - (technically [livejournal.com profile] otherways, but anyway) - just, you open the door, you walk through and you end up walking through the front door of the bar. AKA - serious crack.

13. The Door to 'The Don't Room' - yes, a blatant swipe from the Angel episode "Smile Time" - if you open this door, you enter the Don't Room and the Nest Egg will turn you into a puppet.

14. The Door to Candy Land - which I think was brought up in chat... but it leads to a giant-sized version of the board game.

15. The Door to the Ball Pit - a door that opens into a HUGE plastic ball play pit (like they have at McDonald's)

16. The Door to the Video Game - it opens into a Pac-Man board or something like that from various video games... the old Atari console ones would probably be the most cracked, but I don't see why they couldn't walk into FFX or something.

17. The Door to Holodeck - a large room lined with blue hologram-creating grid-lines. There's a computer at the doorway and the pup can tell it what s/he would like to be presented in the Holodeck - just like on Star Trek. We'll put a little twist on this one - a) the door only shows up on the night of a new moon and b) you can get stuck in here for quite some time if you ask for some type of 'puzzle' / 'mystery' / 'problem' to solve, etc.

18. The Door to Backstage - This is a creepy one... you know, like Spinal Tap...

19. The Door to the Hypercube - yes - the Hypercube from Cube 2 b/c we are crackmonkeys. If you're not sure what this is, it's a large cube of cubes, but the kicker to the Hypercube, is that there's a dimensional aspect along with the shifting cubes - some of which can keel you biatch! And there's only one way out.

20. The Door to Change Your Life - this is a one-way door, in that you can only walk out through this door. To re-enter the bar, something about the character must change and s/he must re-enter through the front door as though for the first time. However, s/he is not then free of the consequences of previous actions in the bar under the previous incarnation. (( See Harry's exit and subsequent re-entrance as ickle!Harry for an example. ))

ETA: Further explanation for the "Door to Change Your Life" - There's a door that, if one walks through it, the one thing you want changed most about your life can change - but the door *knows* what your 'heart' or 'soul' wants to change; it doesn't change what your 'mind' says to change. And it's a 'one-shot' - one incarnation of a character can walk through it and that's it - like Martouf #2 can go through, but if he does, no other Martouf can go through after that.
