New Years Eve Reflections: Over the last year, did things go pretty much as you'd expected or planned, or did your life take a significant, unexpected turn? Overall, was it a good year or one that you want to put behind you as fast as you can? (canon or fanon)

[AU Van Helsing's POV]

2005? This year? Well, I supposed it seemed to start off all right, but that happens when you've been brainwashed into thinking everything you knew before had been a lie... if you remembered any of it at all. I went on my assignment to take out a vampire in Toronto. Huh, turned out, said vampire happened to be my best friend, of course, I didn't know that what with all the brainwashing and memory extraction.

So, there I am, pinned to the wall by a psychic vampire and this guy shows up. He's rather distracting and the vampire gets away. There's yelling and badness and anger and more badness, then everything kind of went black. When I woke up, I was someplace that didn't seem remotely familiar. The psychic vampire determined that ye old Knights of the Holy Order had scrambled up my head so bad that apparently the image of 'shoving a knife up your nose and wiggling it around' rivaled it for cruelty. Ouch, by the way. Said vampire re-rearranged my memories and that was blindingly painful - both the action itself and the resulting after-effects.

Needless to say, eventful is a good description, but I don't know if it was good or bad. There were bad parts, but the year seemed to turn out okay... except for that attack in late November... that wasn't fun.
